Firefighters were called to a chip pan fire in York yesterday evening (Saturday).
Crews from Acomb and Selby responded to the call from a home in Elvington at 5:09pm.
Two neighbours had attempted to extinguish the fire using blankets prior to the crews arrival, but flames were still present.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the property with a hose reel jet to extinguish the remaining flames.
Although the property sustained some smoke damage, the fire damage was mostly confined to the chip pan itself.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: ”A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the remaining smoke inside the property and the occupant has been left receiving help from a Red Cross Team.”
