Scene of the rescue: the River Ouse by Rowntree Park

York firefighters have come to the aid of a dog who got stuck in the mud near a city park.

The fire service received a call at about 9.50am on Friday (November 28) to say that the “elderly dog” was struggling to get free.

It was mired in the mud on the banks of the River Ouse at Terry Avenue, near Rowntree Park.

A fire crew used the water rescue unit to sail over to the bank and bring it to safety.
