Firefighters rescue a man and his dog from floodwater in York
After a very busy shift for their daytime colleagues, firefighters on night watch attended a number of flood related incidents.
At 6.35pm last night (Monday) crews were called out to Clifton Ings to help a man and his dog who were stuck due to floodwater.
Using an extension ladder and salvage sheet, firefighters were able to lift the man and the dog over barbed wire fences to safety.
At 7.46pm crews in Harrogate were called to a muddy walkway off the stray roundabout and B6162, where someone had become stuck in their motorised scooter.
“Crew power” was used to lift the person to safety.
And at 12.15am this morning, firefighters responded to reports of a woman in open and moving floodwater.
A spokesperson said she “was rescued by member of the public before arrival of the fire service and taken to hospital via road ambulance”.
