Police and fire crews were called to a danger in York city centre caused by the high winds.
Officers called in the fire service to Marygate at 4.55pm yesterday (Monday).
They had identified some unsafe scaffolding boards as Storm Debi was in full force.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Acomb assisted police after they identified with some unsafe scaffolding boards approximately 30 feet from the ground.
“Crews used hand tools and a triple exterior ladder to make the scene safe.”
Happily the worst of Storm Debi has now passed.
Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said Storm Debi is expected to clear away from the UK to the east in the early hours of Tuesday, but “wet and windy weather” should linger.
