Firefighters were called out to several fires in York last night that were thought to have been started deliberately.
At 6.09pm, a crew from Huntington went to reports of a recycling bin set alight by some youths in a wooded area near Littlethorpe Close, Strensall.
The fire had been put out by members of the public before they arrived.
Then, at 8.48pm, firefighters from Acomb responded to reports of a mattress and some rubbish set alight by kids.
This was on Boroughbridge Road. They put the fire out.
And at 9.57pm, Huntington firefighters were called to a fire next to a car in Calf Close, Haxby, which they quickly dealt with.
Earlier, an Acomb was called to a field fire off Water Lane at 6.41pm, measuring 30m by 5m. Firefighters used to hose reel jets to put it out.
