Firefighters responded to an incident in York city centre early this morning (Tuesday).
Crews from Acomb and York were called to Church Street at 12.58am.
Smoke was seen in the lobby of a building.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “After a thorough search, the crew located a fire behind the stud wall of a ground floor public toilet.
“Crews used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, then checked for hotspots and fire spread using a thermal imaging camera.”
