A blast of Californian sunshine will brighten up York’s autumn as colourful fashion brand Vans motors into the York Designer Outlet.
The US-based retailer is to open a branch in the McArthurGlen centre on Friday, September 27. Famed for its frighteningly fashionable footwear, the brand also sells hoodies, T-shirts, hats and backpacks.
Favoured by skaters, surfers and BMXers, Vans apparel is also found in the wardrobe of anyone who likes the sporty look. The American label was launched in the 1960s and still includes members of the Van Doren founding family on the board.
The opening boosts York Designer Outlet’s expanding collection of leading fashion and lifestyle brands. It now has more than 120 fashion and lifestyle brands, including Reiss and Ted Baker, Lacoste and Levi’s.
Eight new jobs will be created at the 1,200 sq ft Vans store.
“It is really exciting to welcome such a popular brand to the centre,” said Mike Thomas, York Designer Outlet manager.
“Vans is one of the best loved lifestyle brands in not just the UK, but also the world. Known for its unique style, the arrival is sure to be a hit with young people in the area.”
