Have a break. Have a sit down on a KitKat.
Or Yorkie, or Chocolate Orange… York residents were surprised to find several city centre benches had been given chocolate bar wrappers on Friday (October 19).
It was part of the National Chocolate Week celebrations by York’s Chocolate Story.
Staff from the award-winning attraction spent the wee small hours changing six of York’s benches to reflect the city’s unique confectionery heritage.
Brands such as KitKat, Yorkie, Black Magic and Terry’s Chocolate Orange adorned the seats. Members of the public could join in by taking a selfie and sharing on social media.
A city-wide tale

We wanted to celebrate York’s unique confectionery heritage in a fun and interactive way.
This is a story that’s bigger than one location; it’s a city-wide tale. So, it made perfect sense for this to be a city-wide event.
This is not the first time the attraction has put together a stunt for Chocolate Week. In previous years, they have hung KitKats from the pergola in Rowntree Park and covered Shambles in 1,000 inflatable chocolate oranges.
