The writer, theatre-maker and activist who has been performing his brand of anarchic verse across the UK since 2007, launches Nerd Punk later this month.
It features poetry on friendship, growing up, cartoons and comics, as well as protest poetry, feminism and anarchism. Plus heartfelt poetry about York itself, the vibrant community and hoping for a better world.
Sparky night
Henry has rigorously searched through old documents, notebooks and his memory to assemble ten years of poetry into the new collection, published by Burning Eye Books.
To celebrate, Henry – who founded York’s Say Owt spoken word nights – is hosting a gig with some of his most favourite friends from across the UK.
Performing alongside him are:
- Suky Goodfellow – a multi-talented multi-hair-coloured poet from Edinburgh
- Dead Drummer – York’s fourth most popular two piece acoustic psycho/ thrashabilly blues act
- Bridget Hart – Bristol-based book publisher, punk, feminist, podcaster.
“It promises to be a sparky night of poetry, spoken word, music and celebration,” he said.
