A York fire crew responded to a deliberately set fire at St Nicholas Fields yesterday evening (Monday).
The blaze, which is part of a recent spate of similar incidents at the park, was reported at 6:12 pm.
Firefighters arrived to find a fire measuring around 3m x 3m, consisting of burning wood and branches.
Using knapsack sprayers and buckets of water, crews extinguished the fire and dampened the area.
A service spokesperson on Friday told YorkMix that police patrols had been requested for the area due to the ongoing issue of deliberate fires.
This type of incident is a large drain on the fire crews time and resources.
