More details have emerged about the trouble that led to a police intervention in Chapelfields, York.
We reported yesterday that police had dispersed a large group of youths on Bramham Road and were stepping up their patrols after continued trouble in the area.
The anti-social behaviour and criminal damage that has blighted residents’ lives has now led to the temporary withdrawal of First York bus services.
Now a York councillor has revealed details of one incident that helped First York come to that decision.
Westfield ward councillor Andrew Waller told YorkMix Radio: “I understand there was an incident on Wednesday afternoon – potentially a cyclist hanging onto the back of a bus.
“There could have been a serious injury. So that that incident is being followed up with the bus company and the police.
“Talking with the police about residents’ concerns in the area, we’re very much encouraging people to ring 101 to ensure that incidents are recorded and that the resources from the police force are allocated based on the number of incidents that are happening.”
We have asked First York for a comment, and will update if they come back to us.
