Three fire crews were called to an incident in York in the early hours today (Monday).
Firefighters from York, Acomb and Huntington responded to a report of smoke coming from a residential property on Walmgate at 1.21am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews located a small fire in a server room on the first floor of the property.
“Crews extinguished the fire, carried out a thorough check for further fire spread within the server room and isolated the affected unit.
“The incident was left in the hands of the maintenance manager.”
A server room is a room, often air-conditioned, devoted to the continuous operation of computer servers.
Earlier during the night shift, Acomb crews were called to two other fires:
- At 9.28pm, they went to a report of a fire in the rear garden of a property. “Crews located a recycling bin on fire and extinguished it using a hose reel.”
- At 9.36pm, they went to a fire in a garden on Smeaton Grove. They found “a small bonfire that they extinguished using 1 hose reel and gave advice to the owners”.
