A bike and a car collided in York this morning.

The crash happened on Acomb Road, near its junction with Lindley Street. One woman, believed to be the cyclist, was hurt and taken to hospital.

Acomb Road was closed at its junction with Holgate Road for several hours, first to allow emergency services to respond, then for police investigation work.

Police were blocking traffic outside the One Stop shop and buses were diverted.

By 2.40pm, the road had reopened and traffic was running freely.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Services spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 7.43am this morning to reports of a collision between a car and bike on Acomb Road, York.

“An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and a team leader were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary.”
