People in Tadcaster have expressed shock that someone could, once again, damage the community defibrillator.

It has been placed outside Costa Coffee in the town centre and is there to save lives in an emergency.

The Tadcaster Citizen Facebook page reported the mindless vandalism over the weekend after James Bowman sent them a picture of the damage.

It’s not the first time either as it was ripped off the wall back in January of 2018.

Anyone with any information should get in touch with police using 101 and quoting this incident number 122101 86576

Reaction to the news that it had been damaged appeared on Facebook.

Angela said “The community helped pay for these green defibrillators that are around Tad by donating to the flood group so if you know who did this please tell the police or the flood group”

Elizabeth agreed and said: “Absolutely disgusting!!! After being in a situation where we needed to go and get this to actually use on someone, I can’t even begin to imagine the upset and distress this would have had on the family of it hadn’t been available when needed.

“Let’s hope that whoever did it, realises the possible catastrophic consequences of their actions.”

There are now calls for a CCTV camera to be installed by Selby District Council to watch over the site.
