The community is rallying round a girl who lost her family in a crash in North Yorkshire.
A mother and two children died in the collision between two cars and a bus on the A61 near Ripon on Sunday.
Police have named them as Daria Bartienieva, 35, her six-year-old son Ihor Bartienieva and Daria’s step-daughter, Anastasiia Bartienieva, aged 15.
They were originally from Ukraine but came to Ripon as refugees after Russia invaded their country.
Ihor was a pupil of Holy Trinity School in Ripon.
Now two fundraising campaigns have been launched to help Daria’s teenage daughter left orphaned by the tragedy.
It is understood her father died earlier this year.
Ian Dimery and his wife took in the Bartienieva family when they first came to Ripon in 2022. He has set up a JustGiving Page to raise money for the girl who lost all her close relatives in the crash.
He wrote: “The children attended local schools and mum had a job in the area. L is just 15 years old. Because of the complications of her situation, she needs access to immediate funds for daily living costs such as food and toiletries.
“My wife and I had the pleasure of knowing them and then hosting them for a year until May. We have lost a family we welcomed loved and shared experiences good and bad.”
A GoFundMe page for the girl set up by Donna Chilcott has raised £13,000 for the girl so far. There is also a cash collection at the Black Swan in Ripon.
One donor commented: “So hard to comprehend how she must be feeling, absolutely devastating for her, the family and friends.”
Another said: “Deepest condolences to the the young girl and the family at this sad time. No money will be able to replace what she’s lost but hopefully this will help her in some way and she knows that the people of Ripon are there for her.”
