Police have been called in after children were alleged to have started a fire in a suburb of York.
Firefighters were called to the incident on Common Lane, Heslington at 8.08pm last night (Sunday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The York crew used a hose reel and pitchforks to extinguish two piles of wooding chippings of approx 2m by 2m.

“Cause – deliberate ignition by children. Incident left with police and the landowner.”
