Members of York’s Armed Forces community are being invited to pop along to a breakfast club for the chance to meet other veterans.
The Armed Forces and Veterans of All Ages Breakfast Clubs allow members of the armed forces family to meet face to face in a relaxed, safe and social environment.
“People can come along to enjoy breakfast and banter with others who have similar, shared experiences, which can help to combat the loneliness that some veterans feel when they leave service,” a City of York Council spokesperson said.
There are no fees and people only have to pay for their own breakfast. The clubs do not exist to raise funds for any charity, organisation or business and are purely social events.
The sessions are open to all members of the Armed Forces family, including regular members of the Army, Navy and Air Force, reservists, service leavers, veterans of all ages and their families.
The clubs are part of a wider network of support in York for Armed Forces personnel which includes a comprehensive guide about the support available locally.
More information is on the York council website.
