Police are urging York businesses to come forward if they have been duped with fake Scottish cash.
Officers are asking traders to talk to them “if they believe they have unwittingly accepted fake Scottish pound notes”.
It follows an operation with York BID Street Rangers yesterday (Wednesday) when police seized around £4,000 worth of suspected counterfeit Scottish notes.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested in St Helen’s Square in connection with the incident.
He has been released on bail to allow more enquiries to be carried out.
