A body has been discovered on a field in York this morning (Thursday, 6 May).
Police have cordoned off an area of Knavesmire near to the Marriott Hotel on Tadcaster Road where the woman’s body was found.
Green canvas screens were also visible.
Police initially described the death as unexplained, but now say there are no suspicious circumstances.
At 9am, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident near the Marriott Hotel on Tadcaster Road in York.
“The body of a woman was discovered near the hotel on the Knavesmire at 7.40am today.”
Officers were working at the scene “to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident”.
The force then issued an update at 11.03am: “We can now confirm that officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a woman who was found on Tadcaster Road.
“A report will now be prepared for HM Coroner.”
An ambulance and four police vehicles were parked at the hotel car park.
