Police have this afternoon issued a sad update in their investigation into the missing Harrogate woman Judith Holliday.
Officers involved in the search have found a body near to the railway at North Rigton.
They said they were alerted at 12.22pm today (Saturday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Rail and road closures are in place while the emergency services work at the scene.
“Due to the location of the body, British Transport Police is leading the investigation and will establish circumstances surrounding the death.
“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the 73-year-old’s family have been informed and are being supported.”
Judith had been missing since Saturday 27 August 2022. CCTV cameras captured her leaving her care home at 10.32am that morning.
The last confirmed sighting was at Library Gardens in Harrogate at 10.43am that day.
Police used a drone to search for Judith in the large open areas around the Harrogate area.
The spokesperson said: “We thank everyone who has supported the missing person inquiry. Our thoughts are with Judith’s family.”
