A new coffee shop is about to open in York.
Independent coffee chain Black Sheep Coffee is coming to the city for the first time.
It is in the building at the corner of High Ousegate and Spurriergate, previously home to the men’s fashion store Lambretta which moved into Coney Street earlier this year.
Black Sheep Coffee was founded in 2013 by university flatmates Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth. The independent coffee chain has over 50 locations in the UK – with the latest being York.
According to their website, it is the “only retail coffee company in the world to serve 100% specialty grade Robusta coffee”.
Work to transform the corner building is nearly complete. It joins a popular location for coffee shops in the city centre, being next door to the Caffe Nero which opened last year and opposite the Drift-In café.
Visitors to Black Sheep Coffee can expect all the classic bevrages, as well as special drinks like a pistachio latte, honey cardamom oat milk latte, turmeric latte, and their signature drink black hoof – which is espresso, coconut oil, cinnamon, milk and foam.
As well as hot drinks, the coffee shop also serves up some tasty treats too including Norwegian waffles, smoothie bowls, toasties, sandwiches and bagels.
The waffles have a variety of fillings and toppings – from Biscoff, Nutella and strawberries, peanut butter and banana, or just plain! Try a mango and dragonfruit smoothie bowl, brie and cranberry toastie, salt beef bagel, and more tempting delights.
An opening date is yet to be revealed, but fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait long for more great coffee in York.
