The new Bilsdale transmitter mast, built to restore TV pictures to many parts of North Yorkshire after the old one caught fire, was hit by strong ‘Storm Barra’ winds today taking it off air.

Freeview said on Twitter “Arqiva have reported that there is currently no service on many channels for those taking a signal from the temporary Bilsdale transmitter. Please do not retune while Arqiva investigate.”

Later Arqiva confirmed that service had been restored. The signal was unavailable for around a couple of hours.

They asked that viewers do not retune their TVs and apologised for any inconvenience.
