The annual event that celebrates the older people in York is back for its 18th year.
Organised by the York Older People’s Assembly (YOPA), the York 50+ Festival is taking place across the city for two weeks between Saturday 23 September to Sunday 8 October.
The aim of the festival is to contribute to the wellbeing of older people – with opportunities to meet new people, share skills and try new activities.
The festival will coincide with the International Day of Older People on 1 October, which is being celebrated in York 30 September.
The festival programme will feature all kinds of walks, you can learn about saving energy and avoiding scams, find out more about York’s history through talks and presentations, musical events, dancing, sport, and much more.
Some highlights include guided tours of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, line dancing, aqua aerobics, clip ‘n’ climb sessions, foraging walks, scavenging hunts, live music, information fairs – to name just a few out of the whopping 120 events this year.
