John Smith’s Cup

York Maze reopens

Get lost people. In a good way. Britain’s largest maze returns, taking over a large expanse of farmland at Elvington, and this year it has a Star Wars theme. Lots of other family activities too, all summer long. From Saturday: more here.
Streetfood Sunday

York On A Fork teams up with the Fulford Arms for this first family-friendly street food event. It features Street Cleaver cooking up some amazing food after a successful stint in the kitchen at the Evil Eye. And there’s even a beer garden beach to enjoy the grub. On Sunday, noon-6pm: more here.

York River Art Market
The riverside art gallery returns for a second year. Browse and buy original works from Yorkshire artists at the railings on Dame Judi Dench walk on Saturday from 1am-6pm – more here.
Brave film screening
Head over to the Yorkshire Museum for another of its family movie afternoons. Pixar favourite Brave is the choice on Sunday from 1.30pm then you can enjoy a post-film chill in the Museum Gardens. More here.

Shelley is a singer songwriter from Australia who is now based in the USA – and she’s doing a gig in York after a fan asked her to! Martin Walls is a fan of her music – described on her website as incorporating “elements of jazz, folk, pop, blues, reggae and electronica”.
