York National Book Fair

Here’s some brain-boggling facts for bibliophiles. The York National Book Fair involves more than 220 leading booksellers selling 100,000 books, which go for anything from a few quid to many hundreds of pounds. At the Racecourse until Saturday at 5pm – more here.

Field of Dreams VW Show

World quilling record

It’s not every day that New Earswick Folk Hall hosts a world record attempt. Members of the Quilling Guild will gather there on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm to display more than 6,000 paper flowers, assembled for the world record attempt. For the unitiated, quilling is the art of manipulating narrow strips of paper and shaping them to create exquisite, intricate designs.
